Hobbies & Interests:

- I love to read - my favourite genres are historical & paranormal romance, psychological thrillers, traditional sword&sorcery fantasy, travel writing, creative non-fiction, and I'm also intrigued by cyber-punk (it's that strange blend of Victorian and high-technology that fascinates me ). I also like some books which I have had to read during my Literary studies, but they're not necessarily my first choice of reading material (pretend you didn't hear that =P).
- Another very important thing in my life is music especially musicals (my all-time favourite musical is Les Miserables). Thank God for portable music, I can't travel without it for long.
- I also enjoy cooking, photography and writing. As far as music goes, I play the piano. I won't say I'll fantastic in the kitchen, but I am pretty alright with modifying recipes and using tips from cookbooks and TV shows.
- I like to travel! So far my favourite trips were to Adelaide, London, Paris Disneyland (random), Holland and Kyoto & Tokyo (Japan). I would like to take a proper trip to Scotland in the future, as well as visit Switzerland; and see more of England and Japan.
- As you can see, I have a huge love for the written word. My I am mostly interested in the histories and literature of England, Scotland and Japan- coincidentally my three favourite vacation spots. I like most things medieval till around the 18th & 19th century. Somehow modernity never really interested me, lol.
- I'm also interested in languages. At the moment, I am most fluent in English, followed by Chinese (my 2nd language), and I'd say my Japanese understanding is somewhere between level 4 and 3 (JLPT). I am fascinated with old languages. I want to learn Latin one day, and I've done a module of Old English in uni.

Other Tidbits:

- If you were to classify me; I'm an INFJ (according to Myers-Brigg's 16 personality types).
- I have worked as a relief teacher and private tutor, and done various brief stints of volunteer work. I don't really want to pursue teaching, even though it's pretty fun. I just don't have a presence that commands much attention =P If I don't get into a publishing/editing job in the future, I don't mind exploring other areas - in the end I just want a stable job with decent pay and a good work environment.
- My political views don't really follow a specific party. It's a mix of conservative and liberal... I usually tend to keep out of politics and discussions involving it. I guess I'm the kind of person who has lots to say but judges the situation; hence I keep my stronger views to myself till people know me better.
- I am not extremely religious, but I my faith lies with Methodist Christianity (Wesley) and I believe more in my personal relationship with God, rather than the whole "you must go to church every Sunday" thing. Going to church doesn't make you Christian. Strangely, I find my faith has been stronger since I stopped going to church... I guess it's the whole 'you appreciate something more when you're not 'in it'' theory?
